This morning I am a little, am out of sorts. Like I am just all over the place, and I think for many reasons, but one of the reasons is because I think that my pantyhose are too dark for my dress.

Pantyhose on her while her head's still stuck in the staircase.

You mean that woman that the governor just stepped over? Don't you think her pantyhose are a little too dark for her dress. that's what I feel like this morning because the only socks I could find that didn't, that weren't stretched out or had holes in them were black. And I have white tennis shoes on and I just, I just feel like I'm so out of sorts today.

And I just think that's ridiculous and crazy and.

Laid off in 2010, and I know this because I have Facebook posts from 2009 of me sitting in this small town festival that they have here in a field next to some Podunk gas station.

Now I can't imagine how much it would've cost to get a, a booth in the actual downtown. So instead she would set up at this. field next to a gas station, and this is all I knew. And she's like, why don't you come? She goes, you can sit it and you can sit there and sell. This is back when that, uh, deco mesh was. Mm-hmm.

squadcaster-h80d_1_03-25-2025_110109:was really popular. And, uh, it wasn't necessarily something that we wanted to carry in the store, although I think we did carry bits and pieces of it. But it was one of those things where know, know the audience, know the crowd, and have something that you can sell to the people. And, um, and that's not trying to dog it. I just don't want, it's just not my taste. Right. Whatever. You, you love it. Love it. Just, I don't want it on my door. And, um. So I'm sitting there and this happens in like October, and so the weather in October, you never know what it's gonna be. Whether it's gonna be really hot, really cool, wet snow, you just never know. Well, I just remember it being foggy and very damp and that meant that the, the field then became a gigantic thing of mud mud up to my knees. Me sitting in the middle of this field schlepping this mesh for five or$10 a roll. It was literally my hell on earth. And I did this for two days and I

Like I feel like that's probably who we had to deal with. But I equate her to, when we, when I taught Colorguard, you know, you just kinda learn the parents and how to deal with them. And there were ones that, the one classification that I called them, country frying pan mamas. So cast Iron Mamas and like you don't mess with them. We ain't making them mad They gonna bring you biscuits and gravy. And then the second thing is if you piss'em off, they're gonna hit you over the head with that cast iron pan. So that's who I was dealing with. And that happened

Was a sheet cake, but it had a cow on it, and I don't remember, I. Our friends, we were on the academic team and there was like a stuffed animal. One of our friends, he actually raised cattle. Um, and so I don't, we called it Bessie, if I remember correctly. And it was like a little mascot for the academic team, was this little stuffed cow. You know, we were young, you know, I don't know.

And we've never stayed at that on, on our, only because I know that's where we always stayed. And you know, except for that one time that we did stay at the other, um, where he did shave his head,

Um, now listen, you can't be too judgemental because we're really spoiled now with technology and how good cameras are. So you have to remember that this was. The beginning of 2010 when we were painting this, or was it 2010? Yeah, 2010 we were painting this building, so I'm sure it was a iPhone then. But if it was 16 years ago, it might've been the first, the first one. the video's not very good, but, um,

squadcaster-h80d_1_03-25-2025_110109:but uh, I think Dwayne, I think one of your favorite memories of when opening that store was. Uh, her little sweet friend Toi. mentioned that
squadcaster-ga1j_1_03-25-2025_110109:Oh yeah, yeah. There's, there's two memories there that she made us cookies and they had their little logo on it, their little tag on it that were very well done. But I just drive up and, uh, wherever I've been, and she's out there painting our front door, and, uh, that's what true friendship is literally painting the front door to make sure that we get open. And, how sweet is that? And so when Stuart and I came back in, the first face that I saw and I honed in on was Toi. And what I said to all the people that were there last week when we had our celebration was. You were the face that was there at the beginning and you're the face there, there today. And that says something about your, uh, friendship and, um, love for us. And I appreciate that and I really did mean that because, uh, what a blessing to have that.

I see her little face and she's always been always there. But I, I was like, what a blessing. Again, these people were

That that was her, her day for her birthday, they were celebrating her birthday, and I always thought that was so sweet. But, uh.

So, you know, after we were in that first location for a year, um, and my, one of my favorite stories of, you know, when we got the first place it was 600 square feet,$600 a month rent. And when I have an opportunity to go get carpeting and tile and floor. That's where I go because you, you know what, uh, that's what you do when people, when you, they pick you up when you're, when you need it the most. Right? And we've had that time, after time after time that, you know, you go back and say thank you in that way. And what it goes back to is, is a segue in that there was, um, a mechanic across the street from us. Again, you have to understand that we we're the very industrial road, right?

But after we moved to our fourth location that we're in right now, which is, you know, much, much, much bigger. I have this lady that comes in and she says, now she puts me on the spot, which I don't know why you do. She's, you don't remember me, do you? And I'm not gonna lie to you. And it's like, Nope, nope.

It's like, yeah, no, I'll go back out front and watch the store while you get drunk at work.

I was like, I ain't got no money. I'll make flower arrangements. Jerry, make flower arrangements. Well, you gott got no money, right? So, but she came back and she was somewhat persistent and it's like two or three times. So I was like, okay. Yeah, somewhat persistent. Yeah, pushy. And so I finally, I finally took her name and number and I put it in my phone. Well, I am not good with names. That's a, a, a real flaw with me. So I knew I was not gonna ever remember her name, so I put her in my phone under florals. Right. It's a true story. And so I was like, well, if anybody, so when somebody, you said, uh, Stuart, well we, we might need help making flower arrangements. I said, well, I've got this lady, well, what's her name? They're like, I don't know. I. But I got her my phone florals. So for only, only the last two or three years, so for like 12 plus years, she actually technically still in there, but under, under that, it comes up. Not Joanna, it comes up under floral.

Tell'em the story of about the the peanut butter fudge recipe. That what you do for people buy stuff online.

squadcaster-h80d_1_03-25-2025_110109:know, um, people always loved granny's fudge and they would always come in. And so she died I guess in, the spring. And so that Christmas in July, that summer was the first, uh, time that we had had an event when she wasn't around. And I remember people coming in and asking for her fudge, and I remember that. I would be like, oh, she's dead. Like it was, well, you know, you try to find the, you have to deal with the humor when you can. Right? So, um, and of course then their, their faces would be kind of horrid and that would kinda shut'em down from asking anymore. But then when it came to Christmas, um. That Christmas season, I thought, you know, granny loved, like her joy in life was food for feeding people. Like that was her, like nothing made her happier than at Christmas with a house that was, you know, 1200 square feet with. people in it. Um, this is what brought her joy, right? Feeding them all, you know, country hym and Turkey and the dressing and all of it. And, um, while it was my personal hell, I knew it was what brought her joy. And so that's always what brought me joy, um, was knowing that she was doing what she wanted. And so I wanted to honor her. And so when it came to Christmas, I thought it's a shame for her. Peanut butter fudge to end because it was really a really simple recipe and it's kind of foolproof and all that. And I thought, well, I will start including that recipe in with online order. So when we get to November, I have the cards printed up and on the front of the card it has the story about granny and how she would make, peanut butter fudge fall of her special events. And so this was just my way of honoring her and continuing her legacy of, you know. Bringing food, bringing sweets to, to every around. So that's included in all of our holiday orders. And then we have'em in the store so people can have'em.'cause people still ask about, they always talk about granny's fudge. So, um, I know that's one of the things that she's, she enjoys a lot up there, uh,
