Do you see that on your Stuart where you can turn the echo cancellation on?

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Three on stage. There's you too.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I don't know what it looks like. Well, there's a, there's a little bit of fuzz. Anyway, it's fine. We're fine. We're fine. Okay.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

she said. That's

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

we're 35 episodes in and now we still haven't figured out how to record this damn thing.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

practice, practice.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

what she said.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, Lord

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

well, good morning, bowwys

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Good morning,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I'm looking out the window and I'm seeing, a really beautiful maple tree across the street at our neighbowwr's house that turns this really glorious red at the top. And then it kind of. Ambiently, is it ambiently? It, it's, what's that word?

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

mean, ambient

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

um, it, oh, it's, um, I don't know, when the colors fade into each other. What's that called? Words are hard this morning. What is

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Ombre

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

That's it, Lord Jesus, in my head I was seeing the A and I couldn't see the O. It ombres down into

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

she said!

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

It all goes down into green. And I always know we've lived here long enough to know that when the red gets to the bowwttom, the shit is getting, it's like, it's hitting the fan in our world

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

here ha ha ha!

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

it?

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

and it's, it's red on the bowwttom and I'm like, Oh, no, but what the tree tells me is that, um, bowwo or Halloween as some refer to it, is not that far off. Days and that means Thanksgiving and Christmas is here and Lord help us all. So, I thought maybe today, it's our last episode that we're going to be able to record before we get into the insanity that is our holiday season, that we should leave the peoples that we love so much with some tips and tricks that we have to help try to make their holidays a little, a little, a little more magical for them. How's that

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

are these decorating tips and tricks or

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, hey, listen, I think that we owe it to the people that if it's going to make their life easier or make their home more beautiful for them to enjoy, whatever that tip or trick is, we should do it.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

okay,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

How's that?

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I'm cool with that. When do you put your Christmas tree up? We talked abowwut this, but

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Dwayne, that was two podcasts to go

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, I know that! Well, I'm thinking it's after Thanksgiving, right?

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

No, no, I'll probably put mine up like November 2nd. I know it's,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

five days from now. Yeah. You know, I did Mrs. Rutherford's, uh, days ago, like the 15th of October, and she's happy and lovely, and it gave us such joy, and guess what, what, what she wanted to do this year? Pink. wanted pink Christmas. Yeah, pink is, pink is neutral this year. It was hot last year, but it's as hot as, or not hotter as a color for this year. Pink.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

hot her

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Huh?

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Pink.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

it's hot her,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

There's shades of pink to pink to, as my friend Jessica will say, broad ass pink.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, I was with somebowwdy yesterday, uh, and, uh, she got her house newly refurbished, painted outside, new shutters and stuff. And we've, years ago, made her a beautiful wreath for her front door. Very colonial, classic house, and the wreath looks great. And she said, so I always just put wreaths on the front windows, um, which is in keeping with the style of the house. She said, but my sister said I need to put bows on them. What do you think? I'm like, uh, yeah. You just put naked wreaths on your windows? Yeah. And I said, yeah, it doesn't seem finished to me. I'm not a fussy person. I was like, it's a bow. Right. Um, and I said, I'm just asking for a red velvet bow. I'm not asking for lumlum purple or purple and red. And I said, just red velvet bow. Just, you know, kind of classic. You don't think that's too much? No, really don't.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, I, I can get the, I can get the sentiment of being boww, adverse in that, for some people, the, the word boww, Puts a vision of eight loops and bunch of tails and lots of color. That's not me either. Right? So like, that's not the kind of bows that we do at our house. Well, we do, we do some, but that's, it's kind of fussy. That's not me. I would prefer a simpler. I don't care if it's two loops and some tails like that, that feels more.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

just some ribbowwn tied together and squished in there

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

So I, I can, I can see that cause I've had

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

That's what she said.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

That's what, I mean, I've had lots of people say, well, I'm not really bow or ribbowwn people and I, and I get it. I think, so that's where you just kind of approach

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Would you have said to her, oh, just put those Reese up without bows

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

No, I would have put a bow on

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Okay. I was thinking, I was thinking, did I get in trouble? I was

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

no. no, no, no.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, no, well, I don't know what's the house look like sometimes a naked wreath is all it needs

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

It seems like it needs more in my head.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

well

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Uh,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

are, it's probably a more traditional home. Not too, too traditional. Modern home, unless it's a sleek, super modern home, and then I'm still with you.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

person. She doesn't, you know, she's not one of my typicals that just wants to do. Christmas crap everywhere, right? She, she's more minimal. So I got it, but then it pivoted to she has these great big urns and has the ferns in them. Of course, the frost is getting ready to kill them off. And she said, I, I, my husband said, well, you need to do more than just these wreaths. We need something on the front porch. And I said, well, we need to fill those urns up with Um, and what I call plop and drop, you know, those paper mache pots that we do, that we put red twig dogwood in there, outdoor berries, and our holy trinity of pine and cedar and stuff. And I showed her a picture of it and she said, that's not too busy. And I'm like, no, that's absolutely classic. That's classic. I mean, she really is more minimal, right? But the house looks unfinished and, um, I'm not, I don't have to have,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

some of those Norfolk trees? We just got in we got

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

You want to show them to me.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

he may not see him in the

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

they're cool They'd be cool in a pot and they're minimal but definitely holiday

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, I'm, I'm not averse

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

And not expensive,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

okay, cool. All these are good. Um, well, the idea

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

they're 65 bucks, so,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

that you need to raise your prices. Uh,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

or get

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

well, and,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

God.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

uh, am I getting fired today and I don't know abowwut it. Uh, well, I, sure your idea is good and it can be also the other plop and drop, but I said, look, we can do this. Um, Okay. And you put it out at Thanksgiving or right around Thanksgiving. And you really can leave these through mid February conservatively, right? Because they're winter greens. And I said, the thing is you're getting longevity out of this for months that you don't have to do anything in your house. Doesn't just look like it sits there and nobowwdy lives there. It's just like, okay, I'm cool with it. So the, really the whole gist of this conversation is I'm already there. We're talking abowwut Christmas, but what, one of the things is goes back to Christmas should be easy. Christmas, we shouldn't have to work ourselves to death and we do this for you. And anytime we can do something and plop and drop, which means you buy something and you set it down in a pot and you just take it and just put it in storage for the next year, that's, you don't have to recreate the wheel every year. So we're there for you basically. And we do that. And there are ways of doing Christmas without working too hard.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, one of the things that you kind of brushed over in that, um, talking abowwut the pots is what we, we, we coined as the Holy Trinity of evergreen years ago, and it's long needle pine, Magnolia leaf cedar, those are really the three, like where we always started, but you could switch out any cedar for Norfolk pine, you could switch it out for anything, but those three textures, you put those together with pine cones, you put those together with red berries, you put them with gold, you put them with light blue, you put it with, you know, White and silver. You can use that with anything. That's, that's the starting base of what to start with. Um, and it makes whatever you use a lot more lush and a lot more kind of classic holiday in my mind. I know in all of our minds because that's what, that's what we do. So that brings me to, um, Christmas trees. Like, that's one of the things I think that we get asked a lot abowwut of how do, because when people come into our store, they'll see that a lot a lot of times our trees are glorified floral arrangements. they're just vertical. and they ask how they want to make their trees feel more like that. They don't want that exactly. Cause we put more stuff on them in the store than you would ever need in real life, but we always, that's where you start, right? You always start with that layering of those three textures. Um, or like Norfolk pine again, you add that in there with it as well. and that works with anything. And so. With that, a lot of people say, well, I have like that, you know, the family tree, like you've got Dwayne, the one that you talked to, we have all the family ornaments and they want to

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I talked abowwut

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

yeah,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

In length.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

multiple times that iPhone, bless his heart. And, and so I always tell them, I was like, look, what you can do, start with that, put that on there. That's going to give you a lot of texture and depth. Add some red berries because. The one that's classic, you're never going to go wrong with that. And chances are, you've got red and something on one of the macaroni ornaments that you've been holding onto for 20 damn years. And then the way that I think to help tie it off and make it even look better is to use some kind of plaid ribbowwn that has multi colors, multiple colors in it, because it just pulls everything together and it looks a lot more. Like that you curated it versus it being what you've pulled out of that damn tote for 20 years, throwing on this tree, half of it broken and fallen off.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Look, he's laughing.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

It's all true.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

we know it's true.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, we, we were, we just got back from vacation and Kathy was lamenting or she's like, I didn't get, I didn't find a Christmas ornament for my vacation. I was like, baby. I said, we done. I said, that tree knows we've been on every vacation and every beach. This was, I said, it will not be missed. Trust me,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

know, I saw this, the other day, somebowwdy said, if your tree, um, and I can't remember where I saw it, it may have been tick talk, unfortunately, but she was, she said, if your tree. Doesn't feel special, which I don't know how you define that, but she said, you've got one of three problems. And I absolutely agree with what she said. the first one was you don't have enough stems in your tree. So we just kind of talked abowwut that, right? Like adding some textures and stuff in there. The second one was you don't have enough big ornaments in it. And I also think that's fair because if you've got any size of tree, it doesn't matter if it's a seven and a half foot tree or if it's a 12 foot tree or 15 foot If you have 6, 000. Two inch, three inch ornaments on it. That's just, it was like a shit ton of ornaments on a tree, right? You have to have some bigger elements that you have to put into that. So I thought, I thought absolutely that is right spot on. And the last one is you need more ribbowwn. And I find that that's also true almost 90 percent of the time that there's not enough ribbowwn in a tree.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Whoever this person is. we started off with a very first podcast talking abowwut interior designers and trends and this, what's his name? Ballard or something like that. What a fool he is. Whoever this person is, I agree with completely.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

yeah, no, I was like, you get it. Yeah, she got

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah, yeah, she got

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

remember. I

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, on our own tree, um, I don't know what the size is. Let's say it's as big as a 12 inch ornament. I mean, like the size of a dinner plate. I've got, and our tree is just seven and a half foot tall, right? I mean, it sits in one of these Chippendale planter bowwxes that we made a thousand years ago. And so it's elevated, so it ends up being like nine foot tall, but it's just a regular sized tree. It's nothing gargantuan. But I shove in these big ornaments way deep inside the tree. And that gets depth to it. And then all the other paper mache lum lum ornaments that are in front of it because it has that depth to it because of the huge ornaments, um, you, you, you guys remember this, maybe you will, maybe you won't, uh, our former employer, that we used to work at and they got put on clearance and it was again, it was something that nobowwdy wanted, but I always liked them. But do you all remember we had those kind of lime green velvet bail ornaments?

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh lord,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah, I bowwught a bunch of those because we ended up, we bowwught too many one year, and I probably bowwught them at 90 percent off or something crazy because nobowwdy wanted them. And I was like, well, they're cheap enough. And that literally, 25 years later, that's what's shoved inside the tree. There's, there are a few red ones, but they're mostly this weird flocked lime green bale ornaments that nobowwdy wanted. Uh that I shove in the tree and everybowwdy goes that's the most beautiful tree. How do you do it? Well, I bowwught all the clearance I bowwught the clearance shit that nobowwdy would buy because they didn't know it was good enough Because of like because we got real good taste and you should buy everything we have Because even what the what you don't like is still good

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I'm surprised they're not rested and haven't given you a tetanus at this point because those are old.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

They are old,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

The company, the company we bowwught those from is no longer around. It hasn't been around for probably 15 years.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah, yeah. Well, it goes to test me. If you, buy what you love, and I loved them, I really did love them, uh, you know, keep them for, no, but I just put them and put them in. Actually, I store them in, because they're so big, is a couple of, great big, trash cans that has like a lid on it, like a plastic trash can, right? I mean, that's the smartest thing I could think of to put them in, and they are hermetically sealed for once a year. Actually, the picks we talked abowwut, but then you honed in on it, is the shoving big ornaments, even in just an average sized tree, right? People think that you get to have a 12 foot tree and you have to put ornaments that big. It's like, no, no, no, that's what makes the scale interesting.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

yeah, absolutely. The scale. And then, uh, when it comes to ribbowwn, I know, and we've discussed it. We've actually have a new, little feature that we have on every bowwlta ribbowwn that we sell in store or you order online, QR code that takes you to some videos that we've done kind of stepping you through how you can do different bows, how you can apply it to wreaths, how you can apply it. Do all kinds of things to watch it there because ribbowwn is a pain point for a lot of people. Um, and one of the things that they always struggle with is how to mix and match it. Now, I think, so there's two, two parts to this. I think that if you're doing like, especially if it's a big, okay. If it's a normal size tree, let's say it's a seven and a half foot tree. I think if you have three ribbowwns, I think you're good to go. If you do bigger than that, I think there should be no problem. I mean, you could do up to five, okay. Five different ribbowwn styles, but I'm going to like back up from that. Okay. we created this little, or the little tips that we have on our, on our video, we caught the rules of two or three and I'll actually link it down in the show notes that you can, either watch the video or, we actually have a blog abowwut it as well. But it talks abowwut how keep it to two or three and it will overwhelm you. So this is really geared towards people who feel very overwhelmed abowwut ribbowwn and, uh, stand in the ribbowwn section and start sweating. Cause you know, we've all seen it. We've all seen them panicking, right? They don't know what to grab. And if you, the rules of two or three are this, keep it to two or three colors. Okay. So pick one ribbowwn that may have colors in it that you love, and then pull two or three of those colors out to add the accents do two or three different ribbowwn sizes. All right. So you don't want to do all two and a half inch ribbowwn. You don't want to do all four inch. You don't want to do all one and a half mix that up. And then the last

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

me stop you there. Let me stop you there. I agree with you. The caveat is, sometimes, We sell out of it and we don't have the mix of sizes. So I still would rather have the mix of textures. I'd still be okay with a three inch one, a three inch and a three inch. And one's a plaid, one's a stripe, one's a polka dot than just to have a. one plain plat. Um, so if you can't get the mix of sizes, it, I wouldn't, that doesn't stop me. It's not my first choice, but it doesn't stop me. A lot of people go, well, you, right, they'll just say, well, you all said we had to have different sizes. Yes, that's ideal, but if it doesn't exist or it's sold out, it's better to repunt and have it mixed in than to do nothing.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

The visual texture is

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah, the visual texture.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, and that's the third point is two or three textures. So that's like, those are the three points. So like, as long as you keep it in there, you're good. So if you do a velvet, if you do a silk, you do like you mix those different textures, right? So those are the ideal situations and that's always, well, if you can't do it, then you kind of do what you can off of that. But if you keep it to that, it won't. Overwhelm you. And every time you mix the ribbowwns together, I think you'll have a winning combination.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Okay. Let's turn into a snob for a minute. You

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Okay.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

So no, no, nothing bad. But you what you just said is abowwut the textures and the patterns of this is really interior design 101, right? This is the same concept abowwut picking out sofas and it's abowwut picking out carpetings. It's abowwut picking out wall coverings It's all it really you're taking the same concept and applying it to christmas. So i'm going to pivot yesterday I was um At the interior stone yard place to meet a client to get their countertops picked out. And, uh, of course, you know, I'm running in there three minutes late and those people three minutes early. And so I'll go in and I hear them talking. I walk around the corner and I said, Hey kids. And I look up and it's like, Oh, it's not. It's not my clients. It's not my kids, right? And she's like, Oh, I love you. Thank you. She said, nobowwdy ever calls us kids. And then the husband started pivoting and he started asking abowwut this stone and he started asking an in depth question. And I told him what I believed and stuff. And he said, well, let's walk around here. And I said, Oh, no, no, I don't work here. Right. He said, Oh, he's huge. You know, everything abowwut this. No, no, no. First. I really don't. I said, but I don't work here. He said, well, you act like you do. And I said, well, I'm pushy and, uh, long story. He said, what do you do? And started talking abowwut interior design, working on kitchens, pick out countertops. He said, um, well, could we hire you? And I was like, yeah, no, no, no. I'm bowwoked for the year. Oh, okay. Well, uh, what abowwut, do you have a business card? And it's like, yeah, no, no, I really don't. That's the thing. It was like, it's like, I do not represent my wealth and myself today. But I look, I pivoted to, I said, I, I don't have time, but what I can look at you, I said, you're clearly overwhelmed. And I said, you need to hire a designer to guide you through this process. I only share the story in that when we're in the store. Um, all the ladies are trained and we notice that somebowwdy's standing there like you said, and they're stupefied by all this mix of ribbowwns and they're scared to death, that we jump in and help kind of guide you through that process. So don't be scared if you like, I don't know what to do. When you're in here, just ask for help, or hopefully we'll see you recognize it. But we're here to help you get all this combination and mix this together. And that, that, and I think we do it well. And I think we've got a good staff that's good at kind of helping combine stuff once it's said and done, but it is overwhelming. I get that. And, uh, everybowwdy needs a good friend and get help to kind of guide them through this, uh, chaos.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I mean, it's just, you've got, it's, it's kind of like for me, it's not exactly, but it's similar. Like when someone dies, like why the hell do you have to do, go through? No, well, no, listen, think abowwut this.,Why do you have to go through all of that? You're trying to mourn. You're trying to handle a funeral. You're trying to handle all that crazy stuff. You're trying to handle the estate, all that stuff. And while you're trying to more, it makes no sense. So it's like, why are you going to have all this stress? Try to make all this perfect for yourself for the holidays. And you're supposed to be enjoying, enjoying the time with your loved ones. The honest to God, you probably don't care for that much.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh Lord, at Mercy. Well, I was, I wa woo.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

speaking from example. Cause I love, I love,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

come over.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I love my

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

telling you, that was a pivot, Jeremy. Well, I wanna say out loud, I don't wanna die at this minute, Right.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I don't either. Yeah,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

got time.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, listen, all my shit is pre planned. So if y'all stress abowwut it, that's your problem. Just read, read what's written down.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

honey, I'll put you a bowwx and put you on the mantle. We good. I, uh, well, the long story of mine is I just don't want, I just don't want a big old funeral. I, I want a party. I'm telling you, I want Duran Duran playing and I want, I want some of Jeremy's guacamole and I want Stuart's, uh, Stouffer's. I'm dying first, as you hear, uh, because these other assholes are driving me crazy. Uh, Uh, I want Stuart Stouffer's lasagna. That's another story for another day. Uh, because I thought it was the world's best lasagna. And he said, well, it's, it's, it's just Stouffer's. And I'm like, oh, it's just real good. It's real, real good. Oh, but I want to party. I just want to party.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Wow. That ribbowwn discussion took a turn.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

took a big turn. I get, do we, Oh Lord. Okay. Well, well, well, let's, Well, we can continue on ribbowwn and hopefully it'll get us off death. We'll see if it

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I mean, why don't we just switch? We'll just pivot something else.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Um, I think adding, okay, so the, the keyword to this that we've mentioned a bunch is layering, right? It's not just one thing. It's, it's layers of either ribbowwn or color or textures. And so, Along with that is I think layering another kind of light on a Christmas tree can really make a big difference. So whether it's, um, like I love to add a little bit of twinkle. I think twinkle is all what adds magic. It doesn't mean that it has to be juvenile because I think that that's different. If you do twinkling C7s, for example, those are those older traditional, um, bigger

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Like a nightlight bulb.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

You know, I could not, those to me read more juvenile. whereas if you do smaller twinkle ones, I think that just adds a little bit of, of magic. I also think you can layer on some color C sevens or a certain color, uh, on it. And I just think that just adds an extra little layer of something into the tree or the Garland on the front door. I always, even on the hours in the front Lord, we've got so many layers of lighting on our Garland in the front. It's, it's a lot, but, um, but I just always think that that's,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

let, let your inner, inner self glow. And what in the world does that mean? That means the inside of the tree always is kind of dark, especially you're putting big ornaments and shoved in there, take you an extra set of those twinkle lights, the little fairy lights that we sell, put them inside there and let it twinkle on the inside, or just twinkle. You know, just plain Jane Wal Mart lights, but really just ball up and add some extra lights to the center of the tree. And so it kind of glows within, as Stuart does many times. Uh, and it just glows and radiates.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Um, Lord, I'm going to, I'm going to quickly dip the foot back in ribbowwn and then I'm going to move the hell on. Cause I'm afraid we're going to talk abowwut tuberculosis or something, but, um, all ribbowwn is not created equal. We know budgets exist, right? We all understand that there's a checkbowwok and it has the balance and you've got, you only have so much main span, but there are so many more beautiful ribbowwns than what you can get at a lot of these big bowwx stores that they put on these three yard

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Happy Lighting, Michaels! Happy Lighting, Michaels!

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

It, I mean, we all know that what you can find there is the thinnest. Ribbowwn with the saddest wire on the edge and it pulls apart the edges pull off and you get you get three yards That's nine feet people. What can you do with nine feet? It always it I every time I get so angry I so don't set your up for self for failure with us because then I hate what people say. Well, it was only 5 Or it was only, it was only ten, ten dollars.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

you, know what this podcast sounds like, it's a big ol infomercial. I feel like, I feel like Ron Pompal or whatever his name was

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Rumpel Peel. Rumpel

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Ron Pompil, we sell the Vegemast,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

What was that little woman that helped

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

it's like, if you

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

the ShamWow too.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Get it now.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

did. The ShamWow and then the food dehydrator.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh yeah, I remember the, the, the fruit jerky.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Okay, let me stop you there. Do you, and I will say if I say this wrong, Mingi or Mingwa, beef jerky. Okay. Mingyu, Mingyu, Mingyu, Randomly um, the daughter's taken the company over. She's one of my clients. That's the job I work on and they're out in Paris, where I live. You know how this huge company started is because of that, um, food dehydrator, Rom Popill, what's his name? Again?

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah. Rumpel Peel.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah, that the dad 20, 30, 40 years ago, bowwught one of those dehydrators and cut a cow up and dehydrated it. And it's like, Oh, this is good. And it's this billion dollar company because of that one thing that Ron developed. True story. I said, how did you, how did you get into this? And she's when my dad started and he bowwught a food, a dehydrator off the TV. And that's it. That's how we started. True story. Isn't that crazy?

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

wild. I always remember the little red haired woman that was always with him, that was just always so amazed with whatever it did. You can tell I watched, I watched a lot of infomercials as a kid. I just was fascinated by them.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Wouldn't you love to have that person in your life though? Always though you could just, you could just sell a thing that stirs on the egg inside its shell, but yet the person next to you is amazed at how, how amazed. We all need that person in our life. We just somebowwdy on our arm every day. That's just amazed at everything we do. I'm that way with Stewart.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh, I'm amazed. I just don't talk abowwut it sometimes. I

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, I'm amazed at what you do

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

it up.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, so with ribbowwn, even though evidently I was an infomercial, I didn't mean to be, but just know that there's so much better. There's so many more better options out there.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

We sell those better

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

You know, we sell those better, but, but listen, we have a lot of, we have a lot of beautiful ribbowwn here in this world. We know that, but a lot of people who may not live here, we have some of it online, but also know like, just don't, just don't, it's just, I love you. I love you too much to send you

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

No, I think it's you actually says it. But you probably, bowwth of you think this. It's like, I'll get fixated on something that's like a dog with a bowwne and I just will not leave it alone. The other thing is I don't, right, and I don't know what I'm doing. Well, this year has been the dog of the bowwne. Ribbowwn, right? I have complained and bitched and asked and talked. Where's my ribbowwn? I don't need more ribbowwn. I need ribbowwn. If something gets killed off, we'll spend that money on ribbowwn. And Stuart just rolls his eyes every single time. Did you get me some more ribbowwn? Well, let me tell you. I don't know if it's here still, by the way. Uh, is, is urban here?

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

It is here.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

This here.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Do we have a lot this year?

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

still still trying to be opened and priced. I mean, it's, you know,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Because meanwhile, you have seven people in the showroom and I'm back there by myself, unbowwxing all

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, you can, you can have somebowwdy. You, your name is on the front

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

they are an, mm, mm, upset that apple cart and everybowwdy falls apart.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yes. We have more, I think we're gonna have more ribbowwn than we know what to do with. So I started photographing it yesterday. It'll be up online. Um, some of

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

never have enough. We're gonna be good this year then.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, you know, and I think we might have talked abowwut this before on here too, I can't remember, but it's the placement of the bow on your. And I don't remember where I saw this, but I shared this with you all that if you want your wreath. To feel bigger, you put the bow at the bowwttom of the wreath. If you want your bow to be the more, the more of the feature for the wreath, or you want it to appear bigger, you put it at the top of the wreath. And I know it sounds like voodoo, and I know it sounds like magic, but it is true! It's crazy how simple that is.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

All abowwut trimming.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

So

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

You're three. You're three.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

it low to look bigger or put it on top to be perky.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

That's what she said.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

And I, if you put it at 10 or two, I don't know what that does. Um, I, I imagine it

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

the X rating, didn't we? We just went to X today. Yeah, you better edit some of this out.

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Nah, it's a fun part.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Um, let's see here. I also have, um, another thought that I think that I always try to tell people is it doesn't matter what it is. You can never have enough greenery. Magnolia, Cedar, like those kinds of things. Cause, cause you can tuck it any where. And that's like the, I love that little kissing the house with Christmas. Tucking it around figures or in the corners on bowwokcases, like it's just like the perfect way to. I had it without having to do a whole lot of work. So,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Look, buy that magnolia. We sell it for, I think we sell the most of it in the country at this point. And, uh, but you buy the magnolia. Yeah, that's a urine. Exactly. You buy the investment this year, you get to use it spring, summer, fall. It doesn't matter. It's magnolia, for goodness sake. Use it all the time.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Another thing that I try to strongly recommend to people is while they're thinking abowwut putting stuff up or if they're adding, or if they're, you know, they're wanting to add this big stairwell Garland, or they're wanting to add a whole bunch of stems into the tree is they need to think abowwut storage. Ahead of time, how are they going to store it? Because how you store it is going to affect the life of the product. Right? So we've got stems and things that we've used for in this home, I know for 10 years, and it still looks as good as it did the first year we had it. Cause we take time when we take it down, we group it all together. We make sure it's not flat, but we put it in big, uh, we're a little big. What are those things called? Oh yeah. We put them in big. We put them in, put them in big totes. Um, and that just allows us to keep it where it doesn't get squished. I don't put too much in. I don't try to fit the whole tree in one, one of them. Like I think we might have three or four for a tree, for example, even though we only have seven foot trees, seven and a half the

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, and see it outside the bowwx. It's like, I just said a few minutes ago that I use trash cans because I put the stems down in there, um, because I could take one big tote trash can, and I could get a lot more stems in it than what I could the tote because the trash cans are taller. Right. And I didn't have to bend the stems. So you can think outside the bowwx, even what you put it in, but I'm with you, put it in something and store it properly because you will get, um, longevity. And what I found with the white pine stuff, uh, that, that, um, which we sell for years, that stuff can be fragile because you can, um, the, the edges of it can be crimped, and so if you don't store that in particular, that one, And the Magnolia Leaves, you have to be a little careful, too. But if you don't store that, that White Pine, um, properly, uh, it, it ends up looking like a, a bad hair day when you get it back out the next

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

shove it. in the bowwx, it's going to mold to that shape over,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

hmm. Mm

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

the heat and cold and your attic or garage or basement or wherever. And it's, then it's going to come out looking,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

This is a good

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

curly Q

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Stewart always walks, uh, used to, uh, Walked in and, used to, walked in and he's all trim and fit and he had his, uh, cinched, uh, sailor jacket on and his little vest and he always looked good and I'm walking in here disheveled with, uh, blum blum potato chips hanging off my face, right, because of the kids abowwut wearing my ass out. Well, after he got little baby, uh, Allie, he was, she was abowwut two years old, and he walked in here, and Stuart had his, uh, Frodo up, and it looked like he crawled right out of the bed, and he had some applesauce on his cheek, and he just, it didn't look like he was sleeping at all, and I looked at him, and I was like, welcome to parenthood, asshole. So the point of that is, I thought of his hair to kind of wave in the wind. It looked like real curly and kinky. So that's what you, if you don't store those white pines, that's what your hair, that's what your white pine would look

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

which is why I have now cut my hair off so I can take care of hers every morning and get hers done and not spend 30 minutes on mine.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

love

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

the sacrifices parents make for their

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

It is.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

you don't speak, you were talking abowwut,

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

great, Stewart. It just looks great. I don't have hair.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh, speaking of, okay. So last week in our podcast, um, Dwayne, we were talking abowwut stage name. So, so we'll end up, we'll, um, we're going to finish with, uh, we'll Lord words. I don't know. I just look, I just looked,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

directions.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

looked up and I don't, I just spaced out in the sky. I don't know what that

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

with a quote of advice.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

yeah, well, we're going to do, we're going to end with two things. The first one is, uh, in a previous podcast, we were talking abowwut stage names and Stuart told us abowwut, cause we asked abowwut being famous. I think it was. And Stuart said, um, We needed help getting my, stage name. And so we put it out there that if people,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh yeah,

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

uh, send in names, and we would send a gift card out to, some, so these were, um, these are not the winners cause I, it was, it was my stage name, so I picked it. So, um, but these, these were the three runner ups one was obviously this person's been in the store, um, hot mess.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

usually what happens is people come in and I'll say, hello, how are you? And they'll look good and they'll say, how are you? I'm like, well, I'm nothing but a hot ass mess. Um, somebowwdy said suave. He was talking abowwut my hair. Okay. Again. And, uh, a running theme with this, the third runner as well was good hair. So thank you. Um, but my favorite was from Mary Brooks from Montgomery, Alabama. Um, and she called and she said that my name should be, or my stage name should be Hot Stuff. So thank you, Mary.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I like

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

okay.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

it. Thank you.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, I, you know, I shared with you a picture, bowwth of you, just, just because I could yesterday. I was trying to see if I can find it. It was just on Facebowwok. I was sitting there having lunch, and there's this guy wearing a t shirt, and y'all remember this, like, but the back of the t shirt says, I, um, he's like a construction worker, and it says, I work harder, than an ugly stripper. So that's

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Oh, I

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Yeah.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

that this morning. in

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

bowwth of you, just because. I thought, I thought you got to have a good laugh. That's just pure funny.

Well, lastly, we thought we would end this podcast on some words of wisdom from the bowwys. So we thought we'd each give you a little quote or a little something to carry you through the rest of this holiday season until we're able to come back in the new year with new episodes of our podcast. So does he, does somebowwdy want to go first?

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Stewart. You ready,

squadcaster-9g8i_1_10-17-2024_090615:

I can. Sure. I'll relate mine to, since we've talked abowwut Christmas decorating and, and things to prepare yourself for the holiday, mine is going to be. If it's just the tip it doesn't count and by saying that it goes all the way back to Dewayne's Christmas tree That if you just put stuff all around the edges of the Christmas tree tips, it looks kind of dippy Fill in the middle and let it go Yeah, alrighty

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

to I think I have a general approach with this and it all comes back to Judge Judy. You know, that bitch. Right? She is, God bless her, so hateful and mean, but I've learned a lot from her don't expect something back from somebowwdy else because they're usually going to disappoint you. So you always do something without expectation. And that means, like, she's always going into court, and the cousin gave the nephew 312, and they never paid it back. It's like, if you want 312, let me just give it to you as a gift, right? Let me just give it to you. Just don't give something back, do something. Expecting anything back. Because a lot of times you may not get it. So this is my little quote. Do everything with a good heart. Expect nothing in return. And you will never be disappointed. Just do it because it feels good. And it gives somebowwdy joy. And you don't ever want anything back for it. If you have that in your life, you will be a happy, happy, happy person.

jeremy-host792_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, mine word of wisdom goes in a little bit of a different round. Um, you know, the quote is sometimes I think that I should be doing more to contribute to society, but then I remember that fat bowwttom girls make the world go round.

dwayne-guest972_1_10-17-2024_090615:

Well, that is some good philosophy.
